When we first started to create hats for our
special "Jazz Series", we were inspired by
the plethora of Jazz Giants, each with their
own unique sound and persona. And we've made
many hats already to honor these musical
legends... with more on the way. But there's
another aspect to Jazz, that has its own
special unique sound and style to inspire
us, and that's the instruments themselves!
Whether it be the Sax, the Piano, the Drums,
the Bass, or the Trumpet, each has an
attribute all its own, and Barons has used
these distinct personalities of brass and
steel and wood and strings to create some
rather unique Jazz hats.
The first in our homage to Jazz instruments
is "The Trill", which is a jubilant
nod to the ubiquitous, pixyish trumpet. With
a sound that cuts through even the thickest
din of a smoky basement nightclub, the trumpet
can cry, shout, moan, laugh and protest, sometimes
all at once! However, always with
a puckish grin, and a mischievous blare.
No
matter who is playing it, and with what unique
style... the trumpet entices with an almost
nonchalant seduction. Whereas the Sax goes right
for the soul and the Bass, right for the...
well, the pudendum, the trumpet is a sneak attack.
Whether played by Maynard Ferguson, Al Hirt,
Louis Armstrong, Miles Davis, Lee Morgan, Dizzy
Gillespie, King Oliver, Freddie Hubbard, Chet
Baker, or Bix Beiderbecke, there is a common
thread to that special "smirk" of
this most popular of horns.
The "Trill" is named for a
trumpet playing technique, utilizing both the
tongue, lip and valves to create half and grace
notes, that give very specific emotions to its
voice. A sound only a trumpet can give you.
With that in mind, we've created the "Trill"
made of our own specially woven "Parasisol"
straw, and shaped with a modified "Trilby"
crown, with accented dimples,
milieu
brim, which has been specially shaped to give
a silent sprite-like perpetual "grin",
and a tri-rail streamer design on an extra wide
grosgrain hatband, along with our exclusive
"touche de satin" sweatband, our special
Lifetime Guarantee, and a signed and numbered
Certificate of Authenticity.
Perhaps
the "Trill's", most unique feature
is that it comes with our own striking custom
"Sforzando Red" color, which we dye
in our studio.
The "Trill" can also be ordered through
our special FlexPay payment plan. There is no
interest or service fee, and your hat goes into
production just as soon as we receive your first
payment.
There's
something about the trumpet that makes one want
to smile. It's" best-pal" friendly,
and has that "accessible-to-everyone"
quality. There perhaps isn't a man, woman or
child alive who hasn't thought at least once
in their lives, that they can pick up that beautiful
turned and bent work of brass tube art, and
make music! The "Trill" is such a
hat. It too is for everyone, and seems to not
only bring out the inner grin in all of us,
but with its sleek design and rhapsodic red
color, makes everyone around you want to share
in your sudden joy!
As with all our hats in the Jazz Series, the
"Trill” is made in our own studio
in Burbank, California, under the strict supervision
of Master Hat Maker and Owner, Mark Mejia, and
is specially priced for the truly cool in all
of us.
Please be aware that all the hats in the "Jazz
Series" are hand made to order, and therefore
take between two to four weeks for delivery.
If you need it sooner,
e-mail us for Rush Order pricing.
