Adventure on

Gerad
Butler, who plays both Nim’s father, Jack Rusoe, and the
fictitious adventurer, Alex Rover, is no stranger to high
adventure. With such grand
escapist fair as “300”, “Beowulf”,
“Lara Croft”, and “Phantom of the Opera” under his belt, it was
vital, when we were asked to create a hat for his heroic
character, that it be extraordinary!
Taking a cue
from other “great white hunters”: Robert Redford in “Out of Africa”, Val Kilmer in
“The Ghost and the Darkness”, and of course, the granddaddy of
them all, Stewart Granger in “King Solomon’s Mines”, we crafted
the perfect hat to personify the “perfect” hero. One that would
seems to have been born right out of the minds of a crafty
writer, and a little girl’s wishes.
In honor of
that hat, we’ve created “The Rover”, inspired by the one we
crafted for Gerald Butler’s character. We gave the “outback”
style hat a special stoically high tightly rounded open
telescope tapered crown with a lean pinched front, and a natural
free-spirit raw edge brim, which makes it look a bit like it was
fashioned by Rover himself just as he was about to be trampled
by a herd of charging Rhino’s. Then, to accentuate his
intelligence, charm, class and worldliness, we surrounded the
crown with a specially dyed, aged and hand-pleated soyeux comme fabric hatband.
Rough and tumble meets suave and debonair. The perfect
combination for a true hero!
"The Rover" comes both in our 100% Western Weight Fur Felt, and
the luxurious original 200XXX 100% Beaver. Both are magnificent
furs! And you can order it “new”, or "specially aged", using the
same secret techniques we used to “age” the production hat, so
it looks like you too have encounter erupting volcano’s and
charging Rhino’s and lived to tell about it! Our special process
does not effect the integrity of the furs.
