Yes, of course when you think of "Jazz"
a beret comes to mind, but, that's almost too
obvious. The "Pork Pie" really has
a way of saying something about a Jazzman!
You think of Lester Young, Charles Mingus, Marcus
Miller. It brings out a strange kind of
gestalt reaction when you see a pork pie on
someone. Probably because at first you think
of some of the hippest cats in the Jazz world,
yet you can't shake the sight of Buster Keaton!
However a new generation seems to see more of
the likes of Johnny Depp these days, who has
loved wearing a pork pie ever since the cult
classic motion picture "Benny and Joon"
(worn as a homage to Keaton, actually), not
to mention seeing the pie on a new bevy of hip-hop
groups and celebrities.
Baron has made many a pork pie for the music
world, and of course we also offer the other
"famous" pie, that worn by Gene Hackman,
as Popeye Doyle, in "The French Connection"
(see our "Popeye
Doyle"). However, that pie has
a smaller crown, and more of a Trilby shaping
than the classic pork.
In honor of some of the greatest Jazz musicians
who love their pies, we offer, as part of our
Jazz Series, the "Delta Diddley",
a true hip-but-classic pork pie. The crown is
a bit higher, and the brim a bit shorter to
give it that "cool" look, and with
our extra wide grosgrain ribbon and matching
binding, this Diddley just blasts out classic
Jazz. The special fur is dyed in our own studio
with our custom "Singing-Da-Blues-Gray"
color. The "Diddley" is made with
our specially processed 100% Western Weight
Fur Felt, and our exclusive "touche de
satin" fabric sweatband made of natural
triple-woven cloth to help soak up that nightclub
midnight sheen. It also comes with our Lifetime
Guarantee, and a signed and numbered Certificate
of Authenticity.
The "Delta Diddley" can also be ordered with
our FlexPay Payment Plan. There is no
interest or fee for this service, and your
hat goes into production after the first
payment is received!
And like all our Jazz Series hats, the
"Delta Diddley" is custom
made to order in our own studio under
the strict supervision of Master Hat
Maker and Owner Mark Mejia.
Honestly, not everyone
can wear a classic pork pie.
It's tailor-made for those
who seem to walk a few miles
ahead of the normal crowd...

can not and will not
conform. Like Jazz itself.
